Tea Type

Semi-whole leaf oolong tea

We have chosen this muscatel from Mirik Valley in Darjeeling as it is very refreshing and calming. It is extremely well balanced with honey and malt. Fruity, wood and floral undertones are just wonderful and add layers of depth. This flavorful tea makes a perfectly delightful and refreshing cup that can be enjoyed at any time during the day. If you are new to whole leaf teas and want something that won't break the bank, but is still an extremely high quality Darjeeling tea we would definitely recommend our Honey Muscatel to try.

Dry leaves

Olive green leaves with some reddish brown hues with many silver buds. Sweet fruity, floral, hay and woody aromas.

Wet leaves

Coppery whole leaves with sweet honey, fruity and floral aromas. Some aromas of cacao and freshly baked bread.

Tea liquor

Translucent amber with sweet honey and malt aromas. The tea is medium-full bodied with a rich muscatel mouthfeel, juicy texture, lingering aftertaste and mild astringency. It tastes mostly sweet, with some balanced bitterness. There is a burst of honey and malt that is very lovely and relaxing. Undertones of apricot, green grapes, fresh mango and wood can be experienced throughout the cup. Towards the later infusions, there are more hay and floral notes like orchid and chrysanthemum. Definitely a tea that has a muscatel profile!

Darjeeling

Origin

Where your tea comes from

Mirik is a small charming town nestled in the serene hills of Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India. At an elevation of 5000 ft., it is surrounded by lush tea gardens, orange orchards, cardamom plantations, and forests of tall, dark Japanese cedars. Mirik, pronounced as Mir-yok, means ‘a place burnt by fire’ in Lepcha. Its cool and moist climate make it the perfect setting for growing tea.

Chaiwala Panda

Red pandas dwell in the Eastern Himalayan region of India and also in China. They are skillful acrobats that are arboreal. They are mostly herbivorous and their name comes from a Nepali word “ponya” which means one who eats bamboo. Red pandas are endangered and there are about 10,000 animals left, of which over 50% live in India.
