Chai is enjoyed every day (sometimes twice a day or more often) in every Indian household. A strainer is essential when you are making chai the real Indian way. Also, a strainer can be your first tool while you are getting into loose leaf tea. Hope you enjoy using his beautiful handcrafted brass strainer as much as we do! 

Chaiwala Tiger’s special trick to clean our brass strainers:

On exposure to natural oils from your hand, air, light and amount of use, brass does oxidize over time and have patina (a natural tarnish). Some of you might like this antique feel like I do, while some of you may like it shiny. To bring the shine back to your brass strainer, it's a really simple fix and all you need is salt, vinegar and flour! Take ½ cup of vinegar and add 1 teaspoon of salt and enough flour to make a thick paste. Apply this paste as a coating all over the tarnished strainer allowing it to rest for 10 minutes and then rinse off. If you are looking for something that is quick and easy, you can also use a USDA certified food grade tarnish remover to bring back the shine to your brass strainer.

Delicious chai, the rose leaf blend is a rich tasting and luxurious moment of tea drinking. The brass strainer works nicely and is so pretty to look at. I love the tiger tin too!

Brass strainer

The brass strainer was beautiful and functional. So much my kids started drinking tea just so they could use it. Clever design so it hooks on your cup, and you can pour the right right over it. Love it! And the teas and the most delicious chais I’ve ever had, more potent and rich in spices then I’ve ever had. Love it so much!
