The teas for the third tasting box are from Donyi Polo, a small farm in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, India, owned by Omang Apak. We have been trying to connect with the garden for the last couple of years and are finally excited to do so. We are eager to have you be the first to try their award-winning teas here in the United States.

The tea farm is surrounded by forests and is located on the right bank of the Siang River, which begins in Tibet as the Yarlung Tsangpo and enters Assam as the Brahmaputra. What is unique about this place is that artisanal tea is made by local women from the village, led by Junmani Baido, who has learned the tea-making process from tea masters around the world.

Spring White Tea

Donyi Polo spring white tea

Made in early March 2024, this white tea is joyful and reminds one of a delicate perfume with notes of daisies, white roses, peonies, fresh cream, lemon balm, mountain mint, and seaweed. It looks beautiful, each leaf is whole and delicately hand plucked and a tea connoisseur's delight!

Steeping Instructions:

Gongfu: 6 g of loose leaf tea in 5 fl-oz of water at 170-175°F for 1.5 minutes, second steep for 2 minutes.

Western: 6 g of loose leaf tea in 12 fl-oz of water at 170-175°F for 3-4 minutes.

Golden Oolong Tea

Made in April 2024, this oolong tea is definitely our favorite and will remind you of everything you love. Notes of caramelized sugar, fresh-baked croissants, ghee, yellow rose, wildflower honey, and pine needles roasting in the sun.

Steeping Instructions:

Gongfu: 6 g of loose leaf tea in 5 fl-oz of water at 185°F for 30 seconds, second steep for 30-45 seconds.

Western: 6 g of loose leaf tea in 12 fl-oz of water at 185°F for 2-3 minutes.

Muscatel Tea

Made in April 2024, this black tea is rich like a second flush Darjeeling muscatel with some malty notes of Assam. It has a rich mouthfeel, like a pinot noir reminiscent of dried plums, red currants, red grapes, fresh-baked bread, jaggery, and malt.

Gongfu: 6 g of loose leaf tea in 5 fl-oz of water at 185°F for 25 seconds, second steep for 30 seconds.
