Chaiwala Tiger Tips

  • If you’re using dairy, whole milk works best.
  • Oat milk is the best milk substitute for rose cardamom chai. If you’re using plant based milk, the exact ratio of water to plant based milk will depend on its consistency and thickness.
  • If you want your chai sweet, sugar tastes better than honey. Add it when you’re preparing your chai on the stove top. If you want iced chai, prepare it as you would usually would over a stovetop, then strain

Benefits of Having Cocoa Chai

The ingredients in our cocoa tea have a harmonious blend of Assam CTC black tea, soothing ginger, digestive cardamom, anti-inflammatory cloves, and antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and nibs. Enhanced by warming cinnamon and digestion-friendly black pepper, this infusion supports heart health, aids digestion, uplifts mood, and delivers comforting natural benefits.

Benefits as per Ingredients in Cocoa Chai

Black Tea: The polyphenols in black tea are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune regulatory with health benefits that include improving cardiovascular health, digestion and oral health. L-theanine in tea helps reduce acute stress and as tea also has caffeine, the combination of L-theanine and caffeine helps create a focussed calm.

Cardamom: E. cardamomum also known as “green or true cardamom” has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and antimicrobial activities. Cardamom also may help lower blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol levels and promote weight loss and so decrease metabolic syndrome and its complications.

Ginger: Ginger is superb for digestion, regulates blood sugar and has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immune modulating properties.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon is excellent for digestive health and regulation of blood glucose levels. Usually cinnamon is grown in the coastal regions of India, Sri Lanka and China.

Black Pepper: Black pepper has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also a nutrient enhancer that helps absorb the curcumin compound in turmeric.

Cocoa Nibs and Cocoa powder: Cocoa has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It improves mood through conversion of tryptophan to a neurotransmitter called serotonin that is a mood stabilizer. Cocoa increases nitric oxide in the blood, helping with vasodilation thereby reducing blood pressure and also enhances heart and brain health.

Tea-riffic Q&A Sips

Cacao is the unprocessed form and cacao tea is made using crushed or ground cocoa husks which are the outer shells of the cacao beans. Cocoa is the more processed form of cacao, such as cocoa powder or cocoa nibs. Cacao tea tends to be more subtle and lighter in flavor while cocoa tea is richer and has a more intense chocolate flavor. Both have similar health benefits and are minimally processed.

Cocoa tea is prepared from cocoa nibs or cocoa powder. It is a beverage that is consumed in various cultures and is prepared by either steeping cocoa nibs or cocoa powder in near boiling water, or with the addition of milk and a sweetener like sugar or honey. Some preparations incorporate spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg or vanilla which enhance the flavor profile. Our Cocoa Chai has Assam black tea, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, black peppers in addition to cocoa nibs and cocoa powder. The flavor of the cocoa tea is dependent on the cocoa itself, the method of preparation and addition of other ingredients. Usually cocoa tea has notes of chocolate with undertones of earth, nuts and wood.

Our Cocoa Chai is a great coffee alternative for someone who wants the rich and robust flavor of coffee. As it has black tea, it has caffeine but due to tea polyphenols that lead to sustained release of caffeine. Switching to Cocoa Chai might help give the same ritualistic experience to your daily morning routine that coffee does without having the midday caffeine crash.

Our Cocoa chai has natural cocoa nibs and powder which are the unprocessed ingredients in chocolate with amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Chocolate traditionally also has milk and sugar, that are not present in our Cocoa Chai mix. When you prepare our cocoa chai, you can choose to add milk, dairy or otherwise (we prefer oat milk) and a sweetener of your preference like sugar, honey, date syrup, etc.

The rich chocolate, nutty and earthy notes of Cocoa Chai are complementary to a variety of savory or sweet snacks and desserts. Nuts like almonds and hazelnuts, cookies, biscuits or shortbreads, cheese, berries and chocolate based desserts like chocolate croissants or brownies pair well with Cocoa Chai.

Definite, addition of spices is a great way of creating a unique and flavorful beverage. You can add allspice, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, chilli, vanilla or peppermint. Our Cocoa Chai mix is a perfect blend of black tea, chai spices and cocoa that you will absolutely love.

Our Cocoa chai has no artificial sugar, flavors or additives. It is 100% natural.

Drinking hot beverages including cocoa tea can help soothe a sore throat due to its warm and hydrating properties. However it is not a medical treatment and should not be considered a substitute for medical care.
