Tea Type

Whole leaf black tea

From the lush banks of Assam comes this rare handcrafted black tea treasure, Assam Dragon Pearls produced in August 2025. Grown on the five acre family tea garden of master producer Sailen Phulkan, these pearls embody both artistry and tradition. Each whole leaf is carefully hand plucked by a small team of women from his village, then meticulously hand rolled into beautiful pearls that unfurl gracefully during infusion.

The result is a deeply rich, smooth black tea with layered complexity of malt, caramel, toffee, and biscuit that lingers on the palate. A second steep unveils notes of coffee and warm grain, revealing the complexity of Assam’s terroir. The tea can be steeped multiple times, to enjoy many infusuons.

Sailen’s teas are a celebration of patience and perfection, created in small, limited batches that reflect both the challenges and beauty of Assam’s changing climate. By supporting his work, you are directly uplifting a community of artisanal farmers dedicated to quality over quantity.

Sip a cup of Assam Dragon Pearls and experience the elegance, strength, and heart of Assam captured in every pearl.
