Journey Through India's North Eastern Tea Corridor

Summer 2026 Collection

Every year, we return to India to reconnect with the farmers and artisans behind Herbs & Kettles. These sourcing trips are the heart of what we do. They allow us to taste teas at their origin, strengthen relationships that span generations, and discover remarkable new teas that never make it to large commercial markets.

This June, we traveled across five states in northeastern India during the monsoon season. From the remote hills of Mizoram near the India Myanmar border to the tea villages of Assam, the valleys of Arunachal Pradesh, and the misty mountains of Darjeeling, every stop brought new stories, old friendships, and unforgettable teas.

Along the way, we explored forests filled with wild tea trees, watched artisans craft tea using techniques passed down through generations, shared meals with farming families, and visited the village school in Dhotre, Darjeeling that we continue to support.

The teas in this collection are the result of that journey.

Some are returning favorites. Some are extremely limited batches. Others are being offered for the very first time as pre-releases.

We hope every cup brings you a little closer to the people and places that make these teas so special.

Mizoram Wild Black Tea (Pre-release)
Crafted in the remote village of Leisenzo near the India Myanmar border, this wild rare tea pounded by a large mortar and pestle that is used for pounding rice, reflects one of India's most unique indigenous tea traditions. Notes of stone fruit and cocoa.

Singpho Phalap (Limited Release)
One of the world's oldest tea traditions, handcrafted by the Singpho community using techniques preserved for generations. Panfried green tea, packed in bamboo and aged over the hearth to develop delicious sweet and smoky notes.

Assam Jade Green Tea (Limited Release)
Sourced from Rajen Baruah, this seed-grown green tea is panfired, then hand rolled and dried over a fire made from local wood. Delicious flavor notes reminiscent of Chinese green teas.

Assam Rock Oolong Tea (Limited Release)
Also sourced from Rajen Baruah, an innovative hand-rolled rock oolong made by the famed P-126 cultivar. Delicious jammy honey and stewed fruit notes.

Assam Black Dragon Pearls 2006
Ever since we began working with our farm partner Sailen, we've been hooked on these beautifully hand-rolled black tea pearls. With a robust mouthfeel and rich malty, brandy-like notes, they're easy to travel with and a staple in our tea pantry.

Arunachal Golden Dawn Black Tea 2026
A beautiful summer whole leaf black tea created by Junmoni Baido with a rich mouthfeel and incredible complexity. This tea offers elegant notes of honey, cocoa, and golden hay.

Arunachal Dupak Green Tea (Pre-release)
Mr & Mrs Dupak have the quaintest backyard tea garden with tea plants growing along with vegetables and fruit trees. They have a special sinensis-assamica hybrid that is low in caffeine. Enjoy their exceptional whole green tea which is some of the finest we have tasted.

Darjeeling Yank Red Oolong 2026
We cannot wait every summer for Yanki and her son Allan to craft their Red Oolong. This is one of the teas we drink every day ourselves, with beautiful honeyed, cocoa, and apricot notes, a silky mouthfeel, and wonderful cha qi. Also, a big reason to visit is Yanki’s chilli momos, so yummy and we dream about them in between trips!

Darjeeling Golden Summer Muscatel Black Tea 2026
Darjeeling Muscatels are made similarly to Taiwanese Oriental Beauty Oolongs, where leaf hoppers gently “bite” the leaves and create incredible complexity. Crafted at the height of summer, this black tea offers notes of honey, ripe grape, mango, oak bark, and wild daisies.
