Tea Type

Whole leaf oolong Tea

Golden Summer Muscatel is a second flush, artisanal oolong and is an excellent choice for someone who desires a high quality muscatel. It is extremely well crafted and has a marvelous, rich mouthfeel. The honey and fruit flavors of dried mango, grape and peach are more prominent, with an undertone of aged oak and hay.

To completely develop the flavors and ensure that the tea has a rich mouthfeel, this whole leaf tea is expertly crafted. In June, before the monsoons hit Mirik and the tea flavors get diluted with too much rain water, the finest two leaves or single leaf and a bud are hand plucked from the tea bushes. Then the leaves undergo outdoor withering, oxidation, fixation, hand rolling and drying. We recommend our Golden Summer Muscatel as a must try if you are a tea enthusiast or aficionado.

Dry leaves

Dark long olive-green leaves with abundant silvery-golden tips. Sweet honey, earthy, forest and hay aromas

Wet leaves

Coppery leaves with a sweet, floral, fruity perfume, aromas of black currant and baked dinner rolls.

Tea liquor

Translucent bright amber with golden hues and a sweet honey and fruity aroma. The tea is full bodied with a very rich mouthfeel, mild-medium astringency, and lasting aftertaste. Overall sweet with hint of a sour and bitter taste. Intense play of muscatel flavors with honey, dried mango, grape, peach, hay and oak are felt throughout the cup.

Where your tea comes from

Mirik is a small charming town nestled in the serene hills of Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India. At an elevation of 5000 ft., it is surrounded by lush tea gardens, orange orchards, cardamom plantations, and forests of tall, dark Japanese cedars. Mirik, pronounced as Mir-yok, means ‘a place burnt by fire’ in Lepcha. Its cool and moist climate make it the perfect setting for growing tea.

Chaiwala Panda

Red pandas dwell in the Eastern Himalayan region of India and also in China. They are skillful acrobats that are arboreal. They are mostly herbivorous and their name comes from a Nepali word “ponya” which means one who eats bamboo. Red pandas are endangered and there are about 10,000 animals left, of which over 50% live in India.
